Finding Confidence: Personal Training That Fits You at Laramie Fitness

Honestly, walking into a gym can be intimidating, especially when the people around you lift heavy weights or push themselves like pro athletes. At Laramie Fitness, we get it. Our gym has some pretty serious lifters, but that doesn’t mean you have to be one to belong here. We’re here to ensure you feel welcome, supported, and confident no matter where you start.
Whether new to fitness or returning after a long break, personal training at Laramie Fitness is about making you feel comfortable and capable. We’ll meet you at your level and build from there.
Why Personal Training Works (And Why It’s Not Just for Athletes)
When you think of a personal trainer, you might picture someone yelling at you while you do burpees until you can’t breathe. That’s not how we do things. A personal trainer at Laramie Fitness is a coach, a teacher, and your biggest supporter.
Personal training works because it’s designed around you—your body, your goals, your pace. It’s not a boot camp; it’s a conversation. You tell us what you want to achieve, and we help you achieve it with a smart, safe plan. Whether you want to get stronger, lose weight, feel more energetic, or just figure out how to use the equipment without feeling lost, we’re here to help.
And yes, science backs this up. Studies show that people who work with a trainer get better results and stick with their workouts longer. That’s because you have someone to guide you, keep you accountable, and adjust your plan as your body changes. You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
Meet Our Trainers: Marty Killion & Nic Long
Our trainers are the real deal and easy to talk to.
Marty Killion is our strength training expert. He’s a multi-time world and national bench press champion, and a member of the Wyoming Strength & Power Hall of Fame. But Marty isn’t just about big lifts; he’s about helping you feel stronger and more confident. He’s patient, listens, and knows how to make strength training approachable, even if you’ve never touched a barbell.
Nic Long is the General Manager of Laramie Fitness and a certified Nutritionist and Personal Trainer. He has a deep understanding of training and nutrition and specializes in helping clients balance movement and healthy eating. Whether your goal is to build muscle, lose fat, or just feel better day to day, Nic can design a plan that fits your lifestyle. He’s approachable, knowledgeable, and focused on helping you succeed in a realistic and sustainable way.
Both Marty and Nic know that everyone starts somewhere. Their goal isn’t to push you to the max on day one; it’s to help you grow steadily and confidently.
What Makes Laramie Fitness Different
We often hear, "I want to work out, but I feel like I don’t belong in a gym.” That’s precisely why we do what we do.
Laramie Fitness is built for everyone. It’s not about showing off. It’s about showing up for yourself, your health, and your goals. The atmosphere here is friendly and supportive. Our members are students, parents, retirees, athletes, and beginners. Nobody’s here to judge you. Everyone’s on their path, and we respect that.
Our trainers won’t give you a cookie-cutter plan. Your workouts will be based on your goals, injuries or limitations, schedule, and preferences. If you hate running, we won’t make you run. If you’ve got bad knees, we’ll work around it. If you only have 30 minutes a few times a week, we’ll make those minutes count.
You don’t need to be in shape to get started. That’s what personal training is for. We’ll help you build confidence in your body, one step at a time.
Training at Altitude: Laramie’s Built-in Challenge
One unique challenge (and advantage) of working out in Laramie is the altitude. At over 7,200 feet, everything feels a little harder, especially at first. You might feel winded quicker, or your usual workout takes more out of you. That’s normal. The good news? Once your body adjusts, you’ll be stronger for it. Training at altitude can boost your endurance and stamina over time.
We also deal with a lot of dry air and big seasonal swings. Winters are cold and windy. Summers are hot and dry. Whether you’re training for ski season or just trying to stay consistent during winter, our gym gives you a place to move, sweat, and stay on track year-round. And if you’re training outside in summer, we can help you build a program that complements your hikes, rides, or whatever else you love doing outdoors.
You Don’t Have to Go It Alone
At Laramie Fitness, you’re not just a membership number. We know your name, we know your goals, and we’re here to help you reach them.
Whether you want to lose 10 pounds, gain muscle, reduce stress, or just feel better in your skin, we’re ready to help. Our trainers are experienced, knowledgeable, and committed to helping you succeed. They’ll work with you, not against you.
If you’ve been thinking about working with a trainer but feel too nervous to start, this is your sign. Give us a call, stop by, and say hi. We’d love to meet you.
